Ready to Launch
It’s important. It’s been on the list too long. Nobody has time to do it.
An idea worth exploring. An opportunity that needs research. A program that needs building.
You don’t need another employee. You need someone who can step in, figure it out, and move the work forward. That’s where we come in.
Too important to ignore. Too undefined to hand off.
- You have an idea and no time to find out if it’s any good.
- You’re weighing a new direction and want to know if it holds up.
- You need a program, process, strategy, or initiative built, not just discussed.
- Your business has outgrown the way something works.
- You need experienced help, not another fractional or permanent role.
- You need someone to run it permanently. That’s a hire. We’d rather tell you now and point you towards great talent.
- Nobody will own it after handoff. If you can’t name who takes it, you’re not ready to start.
- The target keeps moving. One project done well beats three half-built ones. We can help you define the target.
The common thread: something needs dedicated thinking, and someone who can turn it into something real.
Think it through. Figure it out. Build it.
Understand the assignment.
We define what you’re trying to accomplish, what success looks like, and exactly what gets delivered.
Do the work.
We research, investigate, develop, and build. Alongside your team when collaboration helps. Independently when focused attention is what’s needed.
Hand it off.
We get it ready to launch, with the right people prepared to own it, with an understanding of why it matters.
Sometimes the deliverable is a strategy. Sometimes it’s a new process, a program, or a working solution. When technology is part of the answer, our build partner helps make it real.
A few things we’ve launched.
- A sales and marketing plan, run by a partner until the team was ready to take it in-house
- Real-time dashboards for an owner who didn’t trust the numbers
- The leading and lagging metrics that actually matter to that business, identified and tracked
- An org structure built to scale, with accountability metrics and job descriptions that attracted top talent
- Thought leadership programs that built community and generated real leads
- A business operating system that cut the boring, labor intensive administrative work so employees could do what they were hired to do, not re-key data every week
They tracked everything. They trusted none of it.
What we found
The owner ran on metrics but didn’t trust the numbers, so the team kept compiling and double-checking reports. By the time a monthly report was ready, it was a month old.
What we built
Decided what actually needed tracking, automated what could be calculated, and pulled data straight from their systems. An owner dashboard, department dashboards, and a weekly scorecard for their EOS meetings.
What changed
One set of numbers everyone trusts, current any day of the month. Decisions made on today’s business, not last month’s.
of manual admin work back to one leader, now spent on growth
of monthly reporting, gone
instead of a month behind
“I love the forecasting dashboard. It lets me see how much business we need to go out and get in order to meet our goals.”
A defined project. Not another permanent position.
Projects typically run one to six months, depending on the assignment. We agree on scope, deliverables, timing, and price up front.
You get experienced thinking and dedicated attention without an open-ended commitment or additional headcount.
We’re happy to help build it. We’re not looking to run it forever.
Questions we get.
When does a business need a special projects team?
When something important needs dedicated thinking and building, but not a permanent role. An idea that needs testing, a program that needs designing, a system the business has outgrown. We scope it, do it, and hand it to the person who will own it.
Why not just hire someone?
If it needs running forever, you should. If it needs building once, a hire is a permanent answer to a temporary problem. Most projects also need a mix of skills you’d never find in one person.
Who actually does the work?
We do. When a project calls for specialists, like a build partner for technology or a team to run marketing, we bring them in and manage them. You have one point of contact the whole way through.
How much does a special project cost?
Every project is scoped. Before anything starts, you get the scope, deliverables, timeline, and price in writing. No hourly meter running in the background.
What if we find out it shouldn’t be built?
Then we tell you, and that’s a result too. Better to learn it a few weeks in than after you’ve launched it.
What happens after the handoff?
It’s yours. We make sure the owner is ready before we step away. If you want someone close after that, that’s what At the Helm is for.
